My landscape paintings have
been described as places you've never seen before but you've
been there. I'm inspired by the external landscape, but I translate
it into a visual expression of my own internal space. My trees
are like self-portraits and through them I express the truth
of who I am and where I exist in the moment.
The landscapes that I create
reflect my reaction to a troubled world. I paint them in an attempt
to find: calm amidst turmoil; peace during conflict; healing
over pain; hope throughout despair; quiet amongst noise; courage
in the face of fear; and light within the darkness. This is why
I paint.
I invite viewers to look at
my art and participate in the worlds that I have imagined. It
is my hope that people will find for themselves places that they
have been, or maybe even discover new places to go.
