October/November

Debra Hintz had 3 group exhibits open. In October, “Winter’s Light” opened at the historic Blinn House Estate in Pasadena, CA where she showed four paintings. In November, five of Debra’s paintings were juried into the Valley Artists Guild exhibition at Encino Terrace in Encino, CA. Also in November, “Changing Seasons” opened at Red Brick Gallery in Ventura, CA where Debra debuted her new Autumn series. She showed twelve paintings here and six sold! Debra was also honored to win First Place for her painting “Hushed Autumn” at the Valley Artists Guild Mini Show held in November. John Paul Thornton was the esteemed juror.

September

Debra Hintz was honored to have a painting juried into the Women Painters West exhibit held at Schomburg Gallery located in the highly prestigious Bergamot Station Arts Center in Santa Monica, CA.

July

Debra Hintz showed 10 paintings in the "Full Bloom" exhibit at Red Brick Gallery in Ventura, CA. The show coincided with the Ventura Westside Artwalk where she spent the weekend painting in the gallery. Debra's painting "A Warm Walk" sold at the end of the show.

February

Debra Hintz had 2 paintings juried into the Women Painters West exhibit celebrating the group's 90th Anniversary. The show was held at DSG (Designer Services group) in Marina Del Rey.



October

Debra had her first exhibit in the city of Ventura at Red Brick Gallery. The exhibit entitled "Momentum" coincided with the annual Ventura Harvest Artwalk where she spent the day painting in the gallery. Her painting "Fade to Red" was a favorite amongst the gallery patrons and ultimately sold. Debra also had 2 paintings juried into the Valley Artists Guild 2010 Fall Exhibition. Her painting "The Cool pond" won an Honorable Mention award.

September

Debra Hintz had 4 paintings included in the "Spotlight On VIVA" Exhibition at VIVA Art Center in Sherman Oaks, CA. The show featured VIVA's Board of Directors and the 2010 VIVA Salon artists. As a member of the Salon, Debra was honored to participate.

August

Debra Hintz had two paintings juried into the Women Painters West
Exhibit at VOCA Gallery in Venice Beach, CA.

June

Debra Hintz had a painting juried into the "Four Faces of VIVA" Exhibit at VIVA Art Center in Sherman Oaks, CA. She also had 2 paintings accepted into the Women Painters West exhibit entitled "WPW at VIVA" also held at VIVA Art Center. Artist Kent Twitchell, famous for his larger-than-life mural portraits, was the juror for this show. Debra was honored to be awarded a merchandise award for her painting "Vivid Refuge".

 

 

May

Debra Hintz had a painting juried into the Valley Artists Guild "5 Elements of Nature Exhibition" held at Orlando Gallery in Tarzana, CA. She was honored and thrilled that her painting "The Woods" won Second Place.

April

Debra Hintz had two paintings selected for the "Valley Artists Guild 2010 Gold Medal Exhibition" held at VIVA Art Center in Sherman Oaks, CA.

January

Debra Hintz had a painting juried into the "SCORE VIII, 2010 Southern California Open Regional Exhibition". The exhibit was held at VIVA Art Center (formerly named VIVA Gallery). Being accepted was a huge honor due to the vast competition of it being a regional show. The juror Diane Calder told Debra that she had one of the best landscapes entered into the competition! Debra was also accepted as a 2010 VIVA Salon Artist at VIVA Art Center in Sherman Oaks, CA where she exhibited for the entire year with shows changing every three weeks.




November

Debra Hintz had a painting juried into the Women Painters West "Red!" Exhibition at VIVA Gallery in Sherman Oaks, CA.

October

Debra Hintz participated in the Clyde Porter Arts Day in Canoga Park, CA. She painted on site as well as exhibited 6 new paintings at Clyde Porter's West Valley Playhouse.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

August

Debra Hintz had a painting included in the "2009 Open Call Exhibition" at the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery in Los Angeles, CA. She also had a painting juried into the "2009 Juried All-Media Exhibition" at the Palos Verdes Art Center in Palos Verdes, CA.

July

Debra Hintz had a Solo Exhibition at Fins Restaurant in Westlake Village, CA. She also had 2 paintings juried into the "Tenth Anniversary All Group Exhibition" at VIVA Gallery in Sherman Oaks, CA. This was an exhibit open to all four art groups that founded VIVA so with that much competition, she was especially excited to be selected.

June

Debra Hintz was juried into her second exhibit with the California Art Club which again, is a huge honor. Only about 40 paintings were selected out of 350 submissions. The exhibit, called "Eternal Light", was held at the historic Blinn House in Pasadena.

April

Debra Hintz had a painting juried into the Women Painters West exhibit at Arena One Gallery in Santa Monica. It was a theme exhibit titled "How Did We Get Here and Where Are We Headed?". Debra also had a painting accepted into the 2009 Valley Artists Guild Gold Medal Exhibition at VIVA Gallery in Sherman Oaks.

March

Debra Hintz had 2 paintings accepted into the Women Painters West juried group exhibition at VIVA Gallery. She was thrilled to win an Honorable Mention Award for her painting entitled "Sanctuary".

January

Debra Hintz was juried in as a member of Oil Painters of America. Founded in 1991, OPA is a national organization that focuses on representational painting. Debra looks forward to participating in this growing club.

December

Debra Hintz was juried into her first exhibit with the California Art Club. The exhibit was called "Concertos in Color" and was held at the historic Blinn House in Pasadena. This was a very big honor as only 40 paintings were selected out of at least 200 submissions. In the exhibit brochure, Debra's painting "Renewal" was described as an "explosive brio of color and texture".

October

Debra Hintz was featured alongside 11 other fellow artists in a 2-page spread ad for the Valley Artists Guild in the October issue of Southwest Art Magazine. Her first national exposure! Debra also had two paintings juried into the Women Painters West exhibit at VIVA Gallery in Sherman Oaks.

 

 


September

Debra Hintz participated in her first exhibit with Women Painters West at the Creative Arts Center Gallery in Burbank. She was honored to win a Merchandise Award for her painting "Carmel Coast". Debra even found herself featured in an article for the show that appeared in the September 10 issue of the Burbank Leader newspaper. Debra also had two paintings juried into the Valley Artists Guild 60th Anniversary Fall Exhibition at VIVA Gallery in Sherman Oaks.

August

Debra Hintz had a painting juried into the "My Way" Exhibit at VIVA Gallery. This was an exhibit open to all four art groups that founded VIVA so with that much competition, she was especially thrilled to have been accepted. Her painting, "A Gleam of Quietude", sold five minutes before the exhibit closed!

July

Debra Hintz had 2 paintings juried into the "Valley Artists Guild Hidden Places" exhibit at the Canoga Park Youth Arts Center. Debra also became a member of the California Art Club and looks forward to being involved with this highly prestigious art organization which began in 1909. June

Debra went on a two week art pilgrimage to France! She spent a week in Paris and with her 6-day museum pass, she visited as many museums as she could. She also toured Monet's home and gardens in Giverney, sketched in cafes and even did a bit of painting in the Tuileries Gardens. Debra then spent a week in the south visiting Arles and the Saint-Paul Monastery at St. Remy where Van Gogh had his most prolific periods. She spent some time painting by a lavender field at the monastery which she found to be an emotional and inspiring experience. Debra also visited Cezanne's studio in Aix en Provence and saw a spectacular retrospective exhibit in Montpellier of another one of her favorite and most influential artists, Courbet. She ended the trip in the Midi-Pyrenees region where she enjoyed painting the countryside. She also discovered an incredible art collection at the Bemberg Foundation in Toulouse. The inspiration of the entire journey was endless and Debra is looking forward to getting back into her studio to paint her experience.

Debra Hintz is proud to have been juried in as a new member of Women Painters West. This organization was formed in 1921 to unite women artists across Southern California. This was her third year trying to get accepted so she is thrilled that the third time was the charm! She looks forward to the new exhibit opportunities as well as the camaraderie among fellow artists that the group provides. For more information, check out www.womenpainterswest.org.
